Disability Professionals Pty Ltd Training Calendar Disability Professionals Training Calendar Our training courses can be specifically tailored to your organisational requirements and we can also bring our training services to you at your convenience. Alternatively courses are held throughout the calendar year at our Parramatta training facility. The course is adapted from WorkCover NSW's manual handling package. It covers: Overview of legal role and responsibilities; Code of Practice on Manual handling; Risk Management & Discussion and practical activity on specific issues. This training is conducted by a Homecare and DADHC preferred and certified trainer who is also an Occupational Therapist. Advanced Manual Handling This course is for people who want more practical skills and is designed for people who have undertaken basic manual handling awareness training. You must have completed Manual Handling Awareness or similar course. The course has a revision of OHS issues and includes use of many practical aids, including use of wheelchair, hoist and walking frame. Competencies are individually assessed by the trainer. This training is conducted by a Homecare and DADHC preferred and certified trainer who is also an Occupational Therapist. Introduction to Mental Health Training A series of introductory training sessions designed by a leading University Lecturer & TAFE teacher to give direct service staff an introduction to the information required when working with people with disabilities and/or mental illness. The subjects touch on issues relating to good service practise and legislation. Included is: Introduction to Mental Health; Legal and Ethical Framework; Responding Holistically; Providing Behavioural Support; OH&S; Communications Skills; Health Promotion; Assisting with medication. It is useful for people who want to enter the field of mental health or is associated with someone with mental health issues. Mental Health First Aid
This course is for workers and members of public who have contact with people with mental illness. Mental Health First Aid is the initial help given to someone who is experiencing a mental health problem before professional help is sought. Anaphylaxis Training This course is a must for staff that has a responsibility for people with various allergies. Covered in this training is: Definition of anaphylaxis, Prevention strategies, identifying the triggers which can cause anaphylaxis; Explain the mechanism of anaphylaxis; Recognition of an anaphylaxis; Reaction, Differentiates from other conditions, Management of the condition; What to do after an anaphylaxis episode. All participants will receive an Anaphylaxis Statement of Attendance on successful completion of this course. This is real scenarios and practical assistance for parents with children with allergies or community service workers. Senior First Aid (Fast Track and WorkCover NSW Accredited) This course includes both practical and theoretical elements of Senior First Aid. The Fast Track Course covers the following topics: Principles of First Aid, Resuscitation Objectives, Assessment Principles, Priorities of First Aid, Approach to an Incident, Calling Help, Secondary Survey and Vital Signs and Infection Control. This course is provided by accredited, experienced and knowledgeable trainers with vast industry experience in emergency response for community settings. This course meets minimum WorkCover NSW accredited guidelines for first aid in the workplace. This course is designed for busy people who find it hard to attend Monday to Friday.
